The spokesperson for the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has reported that a 7-year-old girl in Helmand province was married to a 45-year-old man by her father in exchange for money. Both the girl's father and the man have now been apprehended.

Saif-ul-Islam Khyber, the ministry's spokesperson, mentioned that authorities from the Helmand Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice swiftly arrested the girl's father and the man following an investigation into the incident.

Khyber further stated that the ministry intervened to halt the transfer of the girl from her father to the man, leading to the arrests of both individuals, who were subsequently handed over to the court for a Sharia judgment.

The marriage of the young girl to the much older man in Helmand prompted a significant outcry on social media, with users urging the government to address the issue.
